Adam
Greer (Steve)
Adam Greer spent his formative years in a northern suburb of
Houston, Texas, where as a high-school freshman, he developed a fervent passion
for acting, thanks to the inspiration of teacher and mentor Mike Harrison, who
to this day remains a close and dear friend. After dozens of high school productions,
including a precocious run at HAMLET at the age of sixteen, and intensive extra-curricular
training programs, including a summer spent studying with members of members
of the Moscow Art Theatre, and his professional debut at seventeen with Houston's
Alley Theater, Adam was accepted to the prestigious Julliard School.
After graduation he found himself playing a large role in the Public Theater's Obie Award winning production of CYMBELINE, in Central Park, with Liev Schrieber and Six Feet Under star Michael Hall. While still performing in this production, Mr. Greer’s film debuted in the Indy film ADVICE FROM A CATERPILLAR. From there he enjoyed a steady string of roles at prominent regional theaters, appearing in JULIUS CAESAR, and Tom Stoppard's INVENTION OF LOVE at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis; IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE at Yale Repertory; A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at the Pittsburgh Public Theater, and a reprisal of his role in INVENTION OF LOVE, at the Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C. While in our nation's capitol, Mr. Greer was proud to be asked to perform the role of Romeo IN AN EVENING OF ROMEO AND JULIET at The Kennedy Center with the National Symphony Orchestra, and conductor Leonard Slatkin. In addition to regional performances, Adam appeared Off-Broadway again at the Public Theater (and again with Liev Schrieber) in HAMLET, at New York Theatre Workshop in WHAT YOU GET AND WHAT YOU EXPECT, and in Richard Day's onstage version of STRAIGHT-JACKET. He also appeared occasionally on Television in soap operas such as GUIDING LIGHT, and AS THE WORLD TURNS.
2004 ushers in the end of a busy year for Mr. Greer. After six months performing in Stephen Wadsworth's adaptation of Marivaux's THE TRIUMPH OF LOVE at Seattle Repertory Theatre, Missouri Repertory, and The Long Wharf Theater, he left immediately for Los Angeles to star in Richard Day's film version of STRAIGHT-JACKET, where he got a chance to rediscover and re-explore his role as Rick Foster. While filming STRAIGHT-JACKET, Adam was offered an opportunity to travel down to San Diego to appear in Tom Stoppard's ROUGH CROSSING at the Old Globe Theater.
Adam is currently appearing on stage at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis Minnesota as Happy in Arthur Miller’s classic American drama DEATH OF A SALESMAN, alongside his brother Matthew Greer. The production will then travel to Ireland in late September to participate in the Dublin Theater Festival.
